the paint is my favorite part tooooo! it was much easier than it looks - just a little more reflective than other surfaces, with a little more contrast, and suddenly it looks like paint??

I'm glad to hear it. In my head I'm imagining that you've literally piloted one and I'm happier for it.
In a lot of ways it's fun being ignorant about some things because they sound so foreign that I can believe in them a little more, if that makes sense.

I wouldn't worry about the space leading to the 'mech's interior, those handle-looking things are most likely just that - handles for larger 'mechs to move them around, or for battlesuits (smaller things) to grab onto and ride the 'mech into enemy territory. It's not causing me any mental disconnect, anyhow. :)

There are forums on the comic site - basic games news/discussion stuff, only loosely affiliated with the rest of the stuff. No Gabe/Tycho involvement, basically.
