[Tutorial] The infamous DPI mistake.
(Refresh if you see it small)
This little guide explains a bit of what DPI is and how it's totally a pointless thing to tell your watchers about your digital picture here in your gallery.
The DPI setting has been widely misunderstood, and I had to investigate a lot to get to understand it myself.
I seen many great artists here in Fur Affinity telling what was their DPI in their digital art, which only shows they don't know what DPI is for. This tutorial will, hopefully, help some people understand now.
Feel free to share this image around. We all want people to know more.
Also feel free to suggest more facts about this topic, and I'll add them here in the description for the record.

I seen many. But is good that there are not actually too many, since good is that if you don't know what a setting does you don't tell it as something relevant to your artwork :) This guide hopefully will reach those who are telling their DPI on digital pictures here on their gallery, and help them understand.
And of course I'm happy if more people around can get to understand what DPI does even if they are not artists... knowledge is good xP

Maybe that caused others to get confused and start thinking that DPI had something to do with pictures where they are still in digital phase, yeah.
I don't remember clearly how I did got to think DPI had something to do with the digital art, maybe I came into this artistic world when it was already wide spread the mistake of DPI.
In any case, I only aim to help others understand now that I learned how it is. :)

To set things in stone... DPI is a technical term most commonly used in the print industries, and it is used to tell the level of detail of printouts on a desired paper size. In other words; DPI is the correlation between paper size and image size.
If a commissioner says: I want 300 DPI, it only makes sense, when a paper size is also stated. The artist can then (use the program to) calculate the actual image size.
