"I'm so tired of being here
Suppressed by all my childish fears
And if you have to leave
I wish that you would just leave
'Cause your presence still lingers here
And it won't leave me alone"
Lyrical snippet from Evanescence, My Immortal
It was pretty fucking hard to pick a part of the song to toss into the quotes, so I simply started with the beginning ones even though they aren't exactly the most impactive. They're a popular group. You can look up the rest.
I'd go on about where this came from and why but I feel as though no matter what I said, or how I said it, there's really only one person on the planet who would understand it whatsoever. And only one or two more who'd at least be able to hold some sort of empathy to the weight of it.
This is.. not at all meant to be a depressing image on the whole. Like I said though.. there's only one who'd even understand this remotely. For once, I'm simply not going to bother. Take what impact you can through image and song and make of it what you'd like.
Gotta say, it was fun to mess around with the colors. This may not be the final version, but its damn close.

EDIT: Uhm. People are misunderstanding me a bit I think. Its not a connection to the song I'm feeling. It just kinda, fit the purpose and would work for additional mood to the image when otherwise, words fail me. ;p

i think i sorta understand what you mean in a sense.. I always try to find connections between physical art and music. Most of the art i do has a connection to a song lyric i have heard.
(hell the only pic i have uploaded right now has an Evanescense quote too XD)
but half the stuff i draw people dont understand the connections either. I am not going to try to explain what i think yours means, because art should be interpereted by the viewer, but i have my own ideas to the meaning. That song along is very impactive towards me and makes me think of alot of things.

Wow, that is beautiful, the sheer emotion you can find in the expression on her face, and beyond that, the hands and faces plastered across the darkness just add to the power of this piece, it's like being submerged in despair, desire, and want, hands crawling all over, faces all over ones body, being taken against ones will. It's beautiful Arphie.
Brava. Brava. Bravicima. *Aplauds* How odd that 'bra' is in each word. |3 Goo is fun. This indeed looks gorgous as my friend said. You are so good at elegant poses that it's really touching to look at. Wonderful and inspiring, Arphi. Makes me wanna' draw you something, yet again. :D Keep up the beautiful work.
I like her expression as related to the lyrics here. She's not just held down by those childish fears, she is passionate about them, as they are so very dear to her. It's thick, oily stuff that can't be easily removed or will clear up on its own. Hovering between the light and darkness she exists solely as a prisoner that can never break free.
She is a lover to her own fear. She is consumed by it and derives an almost sick sense of ecstasy from it, unable and unwilling perhaps to leave something so personal, so intimate.

A thought in the darkness that leads towards the light.
Wrapped in your past, shrugging off the night.
You know what you are and where you have been,
But from where you stand now, there is no sin.
..Yeah I know I don't get it, but I kinda had to. This pic just makes me fell, well, good.

I really like the more digitally rendered pictures you've been doing, especially this one. I've always liked the living shadows you do, it reminds me of something from when I was younger but I can't remember what it is. There are a lot of things I kind of half remember I wish I could see again now that I'm old enough to appreciate them. Anyway I like how they seem to be holding her up rather then pulling her down, usually when you see a thing like that it's more antagonistic.
