i think this could still interpretative as cheerful.

he's clearly not happy about the fact that the pictures didn't turn out the way he wanted, and sad that his body structure provides a detriment.

but this would suggest that he's very passionate about being in photography if he was willing to take that risk and care about how he couldn't get the result.

and who knows, maybe he'll improve and become the best dinosaur photographer there is.
