"Sometimes, he spent the night walking aimlessly through the halls, looking for something that wasn't really there anymore. Other nights, he sat on the very same stairs he used to sit on so long ago, lost in thought, until the morning sun shining through the broken archways reminded him he no longer belonged."
-Semper Fi: Homesick-
One of my favorite personal headcanon stories from Lambert's background are his "homecoming episodes". He's one of the two members of Semper Fi that is unhinged from time... so to speak. Back in his time, he was a squire hoping to become a knight. In the world of today, he holds the responsibility for a whole team of heroes in his hands.
So he sometimes goes to visit the castle he grew up at, trying to remind himself of his younger, seemingly easier days, while coping with the fact that while he only aged seventeen years, the place aged seven hundred. And even though he's far from being the fish out of temporal water anymore, it's the homesick feeling he gets from time to time, that somehow gets better and worse by the fact that his home is still there, yet isn't.
... and now I should go to sleep before I completely stop making any sense.
Time travel is fun! Yet it can also become slightly depressing.

Time travel opens doors to so many interesting (read: wrenching) situations for characters. I'm really eager to see where this one goes; how'd he get to the present? Did he have to learn the language of the present day, and was he hounded by medievalists? Was he involved in the Crusades at all; is he religious? Questions! :D
I enjoy wrenching my characters! ... okay, I might have a disorder or two heading my way...
Some answers, I have. Some, I'm actually as eager to find out about as you are.
*) Semper Fi team has the advantage of possessing a functional time machine. Well... mostly functional, anyway. Okay, it usually don't works the way it's intended. But it sure makes a great hot fudge!
*) He did speak a bit funny at first, but he's been around for about eighteen years. He had time to cope.
*) Nobody knows where he came from. Only his friends. Scorpius was very nosy about details though.
*) Depends on what you consider a Crusade and what "minor religious disagreement" (I wouldn't call the Hussite rebellion a Crusade, for example). Main wave of the Crusades, if I remember correctly, was 11-13 century, and he wasn't around at that time. He was a lowly squire of a coastline lord, so he'd probably be left behind, anyway. But I'll keep inquiring, maybe he has surprise lurking somewhere in his tangled past.
*) A good question. I don't know. He hasn't told me yet.

You've got the dates right on the main Crusades. Not much really came after that time that qualifies.
I too look forward to learning more about this fellow. Be good to have somebody on the squad with religious faith and he certainly seems like somebody who at least would have started out that way if he was a squire in the early 15th century.
