According to the Centers of Disease control 1 in every 10 Americans suffer from depression based on their findings released April 2012.

There are an estimated 121 million people in the world living with some type of depression.
Americans share 30% - 36% of that count.
60% - 80% of depression can be treated with medication and psychotherapy.
80% of people are not being treated who have depression.
The number of people who are diagnosed with depression increases 20% each year.

I am one of these 121 million people and im sure many more are just like me. we struggle everyday not to tear ourselves apart. we blame ourselves for everything that is thrown at us and we believe that we are monsters that are only to live in darkness. tonight i felt that. i felt alone. in my lil blue room of emptiness. it is a room with no windows and no doors. its endless. there is no escape for many and i want you to know you're not alone.

there are people out there, like me, who are always there to help.

this is simply a drawing of myself and you know what, i feel proud of it. it may be sad but with darkness there comes a dawn, for every shadow there is a light waiting to shine upon it.
