Psh, all rats are threats in the world of Redwall. Just by virtue of being a rat. Same with weasels, stoats, ferrets, reptiles, and amphibians. Foxes tend towards villainous, but they are technically deemed "Neutral."

Unless I'm mistaken, wasn't there at least one rat in the series that was okay? They didn't let him stay in Redwall, but I think they let him live in a cave by the sea and make boats! He actually killed a fellow rat to save some kids I think...

That was one thing I didn't like about Redwall! And a lot of fantasy books really; certain races are inherently evil. I don't think that's quite fair. :\
