"What do I know about taking care of kids? YOU deal with her."
Ah, but while the Dragon in the Turtleneck Sweater could appreciate King Brockwurst's conundrum, it's not for a dragon to shelter someone's Inner Child. That can only be done by the Child's Parent.
Off to consult another Oracle, I guess.
Painter, 2 hours or so. Feh.

Thank you, mighty Wiwi! Your work is inspiring me. You, T', Voln and a few others I could name are spurring me to try and be more bold, less futzy, more declarative in what I draw and paint. Thank you for kicking my ass and making me want to do better!
I rock, you rock, WE rock. >:)

I dunno, man, haven't tried marketing myself that way. It'd be cooler'n school to try, though, and get a shot at it. I've always wanted to do some CD covers. Your work (like I was telling DeWiwi) is seriously inspirational material. Must think of volume, shape, bold use of form. I'm used to being all futzy and detail-obsessive on the mundane, commercial side of things, this is good palette-cleansing work.
It started with a strong magenta background color. I wanted to see what I could do with it. Then the other colors started creeping in. They're weird, not exactly kosher, but for some damn reason I liked 'em so I kept 'em. I'm still ambivalent about 'em, even to this moment.
Because I'm still learning not to look first at all the stuff I did wrong, I guess. :P
BUT you give me encouragement and for that I give you HUGE *hugs*. These pieces are unplanned, which is the exact opposite of how I normally operate, and while that's stretching my brain, it's got its dangers as well. Me learnin', though, me learnin'. And the good news is that the illustration world seems to be changing yet again. More conceptual folks are getting noticed. Art that's really a throwback to the 50s, 60s and 70s; less of an emphasis on rendering and "classical" treatment of subject, more of an emphasis on concept and having the approach match the intended mood. AND I SAY HUZZAH!!

That's always a good thing to here.
But seriously, I find this very inspiring. All this time I was a "color inside the lines" person. But this picture makes me want to brake all the rules. It makes me want to think more out of the box. And I would like to thank you for that. :)

That's just about always the case: the box is only as confining as we permit it to be. Turn life sideways and all sorts of cool things fall out.
I am boggled and humbled too. All inspiration and such comes free (and happily given where it's within my power to grant it consciously!). You're welcome! Thank you for your words. They're making a long night of working pass a little easier.

I'll tell ye the truth: I've got a day gig that I love, but it's a crusher. I don't have the fire necessary to do commissions once I'm home. You've got to be professional about that sort of thing and I know myself too well. The last thing I want to be when I get home is professional. I want to be relaxational! No commissions for me, I'm afraid. :P
It's self-referential, trust me, and true to artistic nature I am thinking I'll revisit this piece some day. I'm not one of those people who likes to bang out finished pieces. I like to stew on 'em. Which makes this sort of slam-bang art-making good for me. It forces me to keep on my toes and make decisions.
All that said, I am very happy it's touched you. Replace fear with action! *hugs*
