In 2277, a routine mission involving the colony vessel SS Galahad came to an abrupt end. The exact identity of the anomaly was never uncovered - by the time the crew were out of hibernation and aware of what was going on, hull temperature was already alarmingly high due to unexpected atmospheric entry.
Thanks to remarkable piloting, over 1400 of the crew survived the impact, finding themselves in an arid desert, but with a breathable atmosphere beyond their windows. Initial analysis revealed the local flora and fauna to be sparse, but non toxic. Consulting astrogation charts, they finally identified their location on a moon around a gas giant planet nearly 500 light years from the expected route. They named the moon Albion, and the parent planet became The Legacy of Galahad*.
Communications with a native species were established, leading to the discovery of an energy field that permeated the moon. The natives called it the Light of Albion, and displayed great skill in what they termed luxcraft; the ability to harness the energy to enhance their own strength and manipulate the very elements of the land and air around them.
The colonists tried and failed to restore their ship to flight condition, then tried and failed to establish outside communication; the latter being finally deemed impossible due to Albion's unusually strong magnetic field. It is however this same field that prevents the parent planet's radiation from baking them all, so overall, it seems a good trade.
Some of the SS Galahad's original tools and technology still survive, passed on as treasures, and jealously coveted heirlooms, for the colonists had no way of manufacturing replacement machines and over the generations much has been lost to time and breakage.
Here and there among the descendants of the original crew, infants were born possessing sensitivity and ability to maniplate the Light of Albion, often being gently guided by the native people towards control and temperance, that they might not abuse that power.
Meanwhile others, insensitive to luxcraft, or uninterested in local mysticism, went about taming the world in their own, traditional way. Albion proved to be rich in iron, and steel tools were soon within their grasp, along with the schematics of ancient technologies from the Galahad. Some were content merely to tame and farm the land, to herd the terrestrial animals they had brought on the Galahad; others crossed oceans to found new civilisations built on their own ideals.
It has now been over two centuries since the Galahad's last flight. Many things have changed...
Because I'm considering a bit of a retcon to officially fit these characters into the environment of this and this! And who else would you give your surviving fancy technology to, other than your specialist security force? :)
Concepts illustrated
Leoric, fast scout, now equipped with jump boots.
Amethyst, now packing a forcefield emitter.
Raven, duel wielding laser welders.
Alyssa, now with infrared visor and target tracking.
And since he doesn't seem to go away, our clueless reporter now has an electronic holo-map and recording device. Least he can do his job better while hiding from the fights.
Characters will retain their present "magical" traits, possibly with some renaming and new terminology. I'll be looking to rework their backstories a little, but I don't expect as much change as you might think - mostly this will just give me the option of some interesting visuals. Tbh, I may even dump the equipment again and just use the scenery offered by the enviroment :)

Ah glad to see everything is going along well with this project, The new additions look great and I'm looking forward to see more from them ^^
my mate has a story for this universe started I think, A special ops recovery team as he says. They search and locate wreckage from the Galahad which flew off upon reentry. That seems to be the general jist of it anyway. I came up with two different fauna that inhabit Albion as well. I'll post them when I get the chance ^^
