Down in the Caverns Deep
Oh man, I'm so excited to finally post this one! The absolutely splendid
spottacus approached me with a full scene type illustration proposal some time ago, and the specs were just so incredibly tempting that I couldn't resist taking him up on it! The resulting piece is probably one of my absolute favorites to date, featuring his dragon character in a deep, treacherous cavern full of mystery... and some lava, too!
Seriously, I'm still stoked about this thing when I look at it. I hope y'all enjoy it as much as I did!
(I may upload a closeup of the character tomorrow when I'm not starting to zone out on Nyquil. HURRAH.)

It is always awesome to see a new, gorgeous piece of work by an artist, but when the artist themselves are stoked about it even after it's finished? Man, it makes the effect of the work that much more positive.
Beautiful painting, and very well-constructed! It really feels as though that cave system has more hiding away off the edges of the image. ^^ Major props!

Gorgeous work on this.
I love the transition of lighting and colors from top to bottom, with the effects for the lava being fantastic.
The dragon looks amazing, from the way his feet and tail are supporting him against the downward slope of the rock, to the beautiful way you have the light illuminating the wings. The veins showing in his right wing is particularly impressive. His entire posture and expression just captures so much character and personality.
This really is an amazing piece all around, where there's just so much to keep looking at and enjoying.
