Life is... better... than it has been for some time for Brock, and he is starting to think more about what the future might hold rather than dwelling on the horrors of the past. Brock's 23rd birthday is rapidly approaching and he is determined to make something of his life.
***WARNING***
This story does contain some baby-fur content and age regression and makes some minor reference to diaper usage. This aspect of Brock's world is not dwelt upon, however, as it is incidental to the story as a whole. To say that Brock needs diapers when he is regressed is like saying he has stripes on his face. It's simply a part of who he is, and I feel no need to make a big deal about it.
Author's Note: I feel like I've got my mojo back, baby, yeah! (sorry, channeling Michael Myers for a moment...) This chapter flowed a lot more effortlessly than the last, and I'm much happier with it and the direction I've got the story headed now. I'm really liking how comfortable Bella and Brock are with each other and the obvious affection they share.
Once again, the Flame and the Void is a creation of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series which I have adopted for use in this story, for more information on it you can always read my previous works where I've referenced it (Of Tunnel Rat's and Badgers)
Bella's purple jeep is an idea I took from American Gods by Neil Gaiman, though his is a Cherokee, and mine is a Wrangler. Just the idea that Bella would fall in love with a vehicle like this tickles me, well, purple. :P
Peace! Brock

He needed to get there on his own, and in order to get there he needed to be at a certain point in his emotional and mental health, which is why I've been struggling to get to this point. Lol. So much of this has to do with the psychological impact of Brock's disability that I sometimes have a hard time actually advancing the story itself because frankly, Brock's not at a place where he can move on. While the first book was far more action driven, this one is driven more by emotional and psychological content.
In a way last chapter was a review of what had happened where this one is a view into whats to come.

I thought the purple Jeep sounded familiar. I just bought a copy of American Gods for
my step dad. I finished the book myself about a week back. Any chance you've read Anansi Boys? I am wondering if I should grab that one too.

Yes! That's exactly what I was trying to do! These last couple of chapters are kind of the hinge on which the door pivots, moving from the past through the present into the future.
If the question of whether or not to read a Neil Gaiman book ever comes up, the answer is always YES! Doesn't matter which book, the answer remains the same! Though, I gotta say, Anansi Boys is freakin brilliant, even by Gaiman's standard.
Shadow's purple Jeep is just too damn funny to pass up on, so I gave it to Bella.
