I spent a number of years working at PAWS in California:

Curious what they would think of this place.

Glad to hear they're being taken care of. PAWS had 3 lions taken in from a circus in Brazil where they'd never seen the sky before, it was pretty emotional seeing their reaction to the first time seeing stars.
And about 10 years ago took in some 35(!) tigers who were confiscated from a horrifying death camp:

where they were thrown live into freezers to die. That case is mostly why I'm so up on the animal rights case, the fact that stuff like that still goes on today. They were all inbred so had a lot of genetic diseases that can't be helped, a lot are passing on now from these conditions but PAWS managed to give them a damn wonderful remainder of their shortened lives.

People like that aren't "ignorant", when you say "ignorant" it implies some amount of education will make him see the error of his ways. People like that are willfully evil; the vast majority of the public is ignorant that such evil exists, and education of the public at large is all that can create the outrage and momentum necessary to stop that evil few. That's where the sanctuaries are doing their best work, but it is an uphill battle.
