So.... I designed a 48 card/tablet weaving pattern last month based on a friend's dancing robe. I took colours from it and created a sunburst/sunrise pattern, and embarked on the most ambitious, ridiculously large endeavour I have ever taken to a loom.
This is just 39 of 48 cards threaded and tied up, or 156 warp ends of a total 192! This amount has taken me six hours to thread and tie up, nevermind the five hours that it took me to cut all the individual pieces to the right length. I still have to wind the warp all onto that back beam, and then de-tangle the other end and tie all 192 warp ends to the front/cloth beam, and that's going to take more time. So.. I have an hour left for the remaining 9 cards, plus however the frack long it takes me tie it onto the front of the loom.
You can sort of see the pattern just in the tie up. There's two suns, and the arcing rays outward from each one. Each sun requires 7 rows, and will reverse continuously throughout the length to make identical suns.
The colours are: Red, White, Orange, Cayenne, Golden Yellow.
The Yellow is 2/8 cotton, doubled, while every other colour is 4/8 cotton, and the warp is long enough to make two belts, but going by the already 7-1/2 inch long tie-up, I am thinking this is going to be making guitar straps or headbands now, because it's going to end up being 3-4 inches wide after weaving!
