No no, none of that.

This is a reference to skype, a popular instant messenger program. Below their username is a little section to blerb how you're feeling or what you're doing. Next to someones icon is a little 'status' bubble. Green for online, yellow for away, red for do not disturb and clear for offline.

The joke is that someone who I havn't talked to in forever comes online, I'm super happy and message them to ask if they can talk. They don't reply and soon after go offline again. Thus the green 'online' status bubble mocks me :c

Personally I like to think of it as;
green - chit chat welcome, ready to talk about anything
yellow - urgent/important stuff only
red - leave me alone

Now your cartoon makes more sense. My friend Bernard, (And in part George Nori of "Coast to Coast AM" fame.) has been trying to get me on Skype for years. I like to tease my on line friends and say that FA is the closest thing I've got to a "Social Media" site.

For a time that was true for me, but getting skype was something I regretted not doing sooner! It's a wonderful tool, you can see all your friends at once and who's online, who wants to talk, etc. Have a bad day? Hop on skype, give someone a poke and ask if they'll listen to you vent. Want to quickly discuss a commission with someone without the delay of notes? Hit them up on skype.

The only downside is it's a tad processor heavy, I have an i3 core laptop and it handles just fine, but for older clunkers it really slows things down.
