Actually, no, it's the only way you are getting out of their pen in one piece if they are angry. It reminds them what you are. (I.E. Not prey) Backing out and looking them in the eye will make them freeze, as they reconsider their instincts. Looking away, or don, is so bad.

This particular wolf is actually mildly annoyed, if that I could have approached it, and probably petted it. But the look is telling me, "You can approach me, but really, I am not gonna appreciate it so much." That doesn't necessarily mean it will hurt me.

The ears and eye say you are being watched... If he wanted you near him he would be sitting up with his ears would be drooped to the side. Or he would be there greeting you. Depending on the wolf the tail may be wagging... Some do some don't.

He just want to sleep :)

This *could* be her twin brother, who was also a yearling at the time. They looked... Almost exactly the same. But you are right, it does look like your fursona!
