There are sketches of this on tumblr + the ink drawing of smoke and fire.
I loved the episode where Rainbow Dash was competing for best flyer and Rarity had those ridiculous butterfly wings. <3 It prompted day dream fanfiction of Zecora with dragon wings, brewed from a potion. The better option is to not use magic, but when it's necessary, IT SHOULD BE AWESOME. <3 Zecora makes magic awesome.
I know everyone expects watercolor painting out of me, but I actually also like digital art??? XD This was designed with shirt printing in mind, so digital was the better choice. The method for creating this piece was interesting! Zecora is inked and colored digitally, but the smoke and scales and fire were done with brush and ink on cold press watercolor paper, then in photoshop I took that ink drawing, lifted the texture of ink drawing off paper, and made colored digital lines from that.
Probably too much thought went into the ink background. Zecora's magic is based in nature. The inked background has the four elements, fire, earth, water, air, represented in its texture (no metal element, I didn't think metal was representative of Zecora's magic.)
And that is heart's desire herb in the flames. I want to imagine it being a super powerful catch all sort of herb, reacting to what a pony most wants. So dangerous! But Zecora can use it well and temper it with other herbs.

I was actually wondering whether to add that or not: I'm not really an MLP fan, but yeah, this is absolutely astounding. And not only because it's Zecora, and I'm also a zebra - this is *really* great art all by itself. So you've achieved like a triple combo here ^^ Again, really great piece :)
rebbuble would so wash the colors out for a shirt version sadly.
