Drafted my own pattern from scratch and completed this paw pillow over the weekend. It's double sided, and certainly was a fun sewing project! YES I will make more, and eventually take commissions for them! Please keep an eye out on my journal for when that happens. Thanks for looking!

I just had a private conversation with
Blondefoxy about this when I asked if I could make these for myself without the intention of selling them and she told me it was
's idea and they don't want people making/selling them

I'm not trying to fight, I'm just genuinely curious:
Can they copyright that idea, especially when I've seen other pawprint pillows sold online on non-fur sites?
It's not like it's a surprisingly original idea for these, they're just cute and better quality since it's fursuit artists making them instead of someone who doesn't know how to handle fur as nicely. It's obvious that they didn't copy the pattern either-there's a difference in paw shape. So that's something too...
I dunno. It just seems silly that they can say "no, you're copying" to the symbol of a pawprint on a pillow. It sounds the same as holding the copyright of heart pillows after they've already been done...

Well with that kinda logic, they better stop making fursuits because that was someone else's idea first. Come on people, really? Its a pawprint! Besides that, they rarely made any in the last year and even said they wouldn't be taking commissions for them on their recent auction. So if there's a market for them, and they're not willing to meet demand why can't someone else. Its not an original idea, there's typically pawprint everything in this fandom. Furries and animal/pet lovers create a market for pawprint designs.
And Razzy you're an up and coming fursuit maker, who I think is more than capable of coming up with your own paw print pattern from scratch as well. I would encourage you to do so, especially if like you say they would be for your own personal enjoyment over trying to profit from them.
Please email me at CreativeMochi[at]Gmail.com in regard to ordering a custom pillow. I can get to it in the next few weeks. Thank you! :D
