Something that has been buried among my pile of drawings for a very long time -- an arboken (a race of cobra-like anthro snakes of my own) has his priestly chants interrupted by three warriors intent on killing him.
Scanner mangled it; bristol paper is nice to draw with, but too reflective, so the scanner didn't pick up many subtle lines.
Anyway, here's the usual, trademarked "Kaa picture background" -- Arbokens control a vast empire, and while ruling with an iron grip, they keep their lands from falling into wars. Some, however, don't like this, so they have resistances to fight the snakes as much as possible.
Ka'la'this, as a priest, was a capable fighter, yet not fond of violence. He manages to seriously injure one of his attackers before he gets himself killed. His attackers will regret their mistake, though -- it is not after the cobra is dead that they learn priests can project what they experience in their last few minutes of life to some other mind they are attuned to.
And arbokens set on avenging their own... well, let's just say you would not like being hunted by one of these snakes -- rather than it being a short hunt followed by a kill, they will make it an agonizing, torturing chase that can extend for days or months. And when their victim gives up and waits for a quick execution, the snakes will get delight in a slow, painful death.
