I do not remember when I made this and I'm not sure it is entirely accurate. But If I have to explain any further, I'm going to think there is something wrong with you.
The Androgyne mark is a slight redefinition from Hermaphrodite. Basically, under my clarification, an androgyne is more male than female. It's splitting hairs really and so I don't use it as often as I might have thought to in the beginning.

Actually Androgyny is mainly different from hermaphrodite (scientifically) in botany, where the former is one plant with both stamenate and pistilate flowers, while the later has stamen and pistils present in each flower (monoclinous.) Otherwise, androgynous and hermaphroditic are synonyms. (again, scientifically) Socially, however, to be androgynous is to be (purposefully) of questionable gender, whereas to be a hermaphrodite is similar to saying 'having ambiguous genitalia' or 'intersex' which are the technical terms used in the situation.
So you're both 'correct.'
Just know that English is by no means a science. It would be nice to assume a word has a single definition.

I use this definition: "Hermaphrodites are creatures with pronounced primary and secondary sexual characteristics of both genders. Androgyny is a condition where a creature possesses both genders, but both primary and secondary sexual characteristics are muted or difficult to determine."
In other words: if you can't guess that it's either one, it's androgynous. If it is most emphatically both at the same time, it's a hermaphrodite.

Symbols are confusing; one reason why I don't really like 'em.
Personally, I view that there are technically six genders (not including asexual) and it is just a combination of different gender aspects: breasts, penis, and vagina. ... I feel so dirty talking about this. XP Anyways...
No B + P + No V = Male
No B + P + V = Male Herm
No B + No P + V = Androgynous? (I've heard "cuntboy" used around here, but it sounds kinda tasteless. XP)
B + No P + V = Female
B + P + V = Female Herm
B + P + No V = She-Male
Just putting that out there for people's amusement. >..>
