Wow!
I can't believe how long it's been.
My last submission was...four months a go!
Sheesh and so much has happened.
As you can tell from the picture.
Chief ended up not being the horse for me, I just didn't have the time or patience for such a young horse that needed so much work. So I had posted him for sale and months went by and people kept acting interested, but no one wanted to give him the chance. Finally, when I figured I might just end up keeping him, a girl messaged me on facebook.
She had a horse fully trained in English and Western, registered with the APHA, 15.2 hh and as sweet and beautiful as could be.
At first I was thinking 'well gee that sounds to good to be true. No way could I afford that horse.'
Then the rest came. She's 18 and had bad feet from previous owners, so she has to have her feet trimmed constantly and sometimes she'll go lame on her front feet.
She wanted to trade for Chief. I was skeptical, honestly an old, lame horse? For my young sound one? It didn't seem like a good trade.
I decided we could try it, do a two week trial and see how things went.
Boy, was I wrong. I didn't even need a two week trial. One ride on this horse and I just knew. She wasn't just some old, push-button horse. She was...gosh she was just what I needed.
She was a horse whose story had been waiting 18 years to be written. She just needed the correct rider to write it for her. I knew she had all the potential in the world to be perfect. And she is!
We have already done a jumping clinic, she is amazing. We ride in the arena over jumps and around barrels. She has been with me nearing two months now and she hasn't been lame one time.
Her name is Lyra, I got her on April 21st, the day of the Lyrid Meteor showers. This was the perfect horse for me. <3
Oh and, Bella is still here. She'll never go anywhere! She's doing really good as well. She's my snotty girl though.
Chief went to a wonderful home with the girl who owned Lyra. She is doing Clinton Anderson methods with him and they are working brilliantly, he's already finished up and is riding on trails and doing mounted treasure hunts.
Boy, I have lots of pictures to upload.
