Another character whose background I'm currently working on.
He's a meerkat (well, close), and also insane, so that's another Victorian/Steampunk cliché off my list. I think I'll call him Melanchton, just because.
I'm not sure about his eyes. They're not very meerkat-like, but then again their real eyes are pretty boring.
Criticism is always appreciated.

Nice! I like the design of this. I think the odd skirt fits him. Should look great once you design a mask for him. Though judging by the fact that he's insane, I'd imagine it to not be very tidy... even ragged perhaps? Especially the lower front part since it's close to the ground and the guy has toe-claws...
Thanks you!
The skirt-thing was really just the first random piece of cloth I doodled on, him, though...didn't really put any thought into it. I just needed him to be at least semi-naked to show his fur patterns.
[ramble]For his clothing style I'm torn between "street scum/asylum escapee" and something that looks a little more tribal, even though the latter might not fit in with the scenario. And he should still look like he's kind of able to function in everyday social interaction - It'd be annoying in the long run if you couldn't talk to him at all. I just imagine him to be really INTENSE all the time, and have his fits occasionally. Also, he'd probably freeze his ass off in a skimpy loincloth, he'll need to be at least mostly covered. [/ramble]

It really depends on what your plans for him are and where the story takes place. Though good points - skirt only is chilly. Then again asylum escape kind of clothes have been done again and again... Street scum scenario offers more freedom as to what he could be wearing (ever seen Marko Djurdjevich's postapocalyptic characters for the Degenesis rpg? very creative, I think you could find some inspiration there, unfortunately I can't find them online, atleast not in one place. 4th one here is an example, basicly he uses found objects - lots of space for creativity there).
btw, found a tutorial by marko: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sh.....ad.php?t=22701 (though the images are gone, still some useful info)

You know it's pretty cruel to make me read those awesome-sounding image descriptions when I'll never get to see the pictures, right?
It definitely is instructive to read, though. I am mystified by how you manage to find all these great sites. Degenesis looks pretty cool, too.
The scenario is a slightly steampunk large central European country (kind of a mixture of Wilhelminian Germany and tsarist Russia after a military putsch and instatement of an autocratic banana republic), called the Commonwealth because Commonwealth is a neat word and sounds bureaucratic. It wasn't originally a furry setting, but I guess there's a "serious" human and a more cartoony furry version now. Whatever.-_-

*grumbles* Alright, alright, quit whining already and check your notes... I've archived the stuff he posted a few years back at conceptart (i've found the exact threads, but the image links are long dead).
How I find stuff? Let's just say I've wasted ALOT of time one the internets... :]
And conceptart.org is a marvelous resource - you can find all kinds of gems if you only invest the time.
