The Day the Night Slept
1. The Day the Night Slept
2. Long Live the King
3. The Scorpion's Fire
4. Night on the Galactic Railroad
Contains spoilers for Hatoful Holidaystar!
Song three of four in a mini-concept album that I wrote by mistake. Here, we're at the climax of the Day the Night Slept story, where the events echo the legend of the Scorpion's Fire from Night on the Galactic Railroad by Kenji Miyazama. Moa amazed us all once again with her writing and ability to make heartfelt emotional moments out of her unique cast of pigeons.
There's a bit of a surprise for those used to my wordless submissions in the middle of this one... I had to get some reassurance before I chose to actually leave it in because power metal narration is always hilarious, but... can I possibly be as bad as Rhapsody at it? No.

Drawn to the false star of illusion
Like travellers before
But now it's time to leave the kingdom
To face the tainted throne
The king's in his palace
Vengeance and malice
Poison his heart and tie him down
We rise from confusion
Fight his delusion
Taking his undeserved crown
We're razing the kingdom
We'll burn down the lighthouse
A beacon of false hope for all
Completing the circle
Escaping the dreamworld
And this heaven shall fall
Tonight
We're sounding the cry
The kingdom will die
We'll pull back the curtain
And see through the lie
I'll burn in the night
I'll light up the sky
You'll see
And I'll be the scorpion's fire
Down in the dark well all alone now
The scorpion would die
No chance to give another creature
Just one more day of life
He prayed for his next birth
To give life to all earth
Lit up the sky in crimson glow
The end of this heaven
Echoes the legend
I am that scorpion now
We're razing the kingdom
We'll burn down the lighthouse
A beacon of false hope for all
Completing the circle
Escaping the dreamworld
And this heaven shall fall
Tonight
We're sounding the cry
The kingdom will die
We'll pull back the curtain
And see through the lie
I'll burn in the night
I'll light up the sky
You'll see
And I'll be the scorpion's fire
"And so the dream of the King
comes to an end with the story he loved,
and the light of the scorpion's fire
will guide those lost in the dark towards the dawn.
Behind him the false star shatters forever,
and the dreamers carry him on through the morning sky."
Welcome to the eclipse of the star
The grand illusion falling so far
On this night we shatter the lie
And we see the dawn again
We're razing the kingdom
We'll burn down the lighthouse
A beacon of hope for the blind
Completing the circle
Escaping the nightmare
And the secret we'd find
At last
The sins of the past
Tonight are unmasked
The haunting inside me
Will always outlast
We're close to the end
I promise, my friend
You'll see me again
I'm coming soon
We're razing the kingdom
We'll burn down the lighthouse
A beacon of false hope for all
Completing the circle
Escaping the dreamworld
And this heaven shall fall
Tonight
We're sounding the cry
The kingdom will die
We'll pull back the curtain
And see through the lie
I'll burn in the night

And the fire in the lighthouse will burn
And the kingdom of dreams will burn
For my friends once again I will burn
And the scorpion's fire will burn

Now we've persuaded you to do talkie voice-overs, it's only a small step 'til we get you singing!
Actually, I watched the video to this with the lyrics that you put up on YouTube, and found myself singing along by the end of the first playthrough - the tune and rhythm of it are quite intuitive once you hear them. My voice seems to be less Rhapsody and more Nickelback, and the melody goes a bit high for me in places (I'm stuck in bass register, unless you want me to unleash the terror that is falsetto), but otherwise, I'd be tempted to give it a go. :P If ever I visit you, we'll have to do some recording sessions, or something. :)

I felt bad just watching you based on prototype game stuff SO LET'S LISTEN TO YOUR MOOSIC.
I must say I quite enjoy this particular song. And it's so long. '-' Ho my. I only just now got to your voice at four minutes in, but it's a very nice touch to the song's score. I was admittedly expecting it to be more prominent and take away from the actual tune, but it makes for a nice accent to it.
Unfortunately I'm about as musically knowledgeable as a cow, so I can't offer more input other than I enjoy it.
