You can blame this on Whileyouwereout; http://www.furaffinity.net/user/whileyouwereout/ . I just found her anthro planes to be unique and creative... and just like any other little idea I have to ruin it by trying to make my own character to fit into the niche. Now I have a love for WWII aircraft, and that's the first place that I looked. But my mind kind of went back to the idea I had for a Transformer character who turned into a biplane (named Gadfly at the time). So I looked at the "trainers" used by the Canadians in WWII. Origionally I was going to go with a North American Harvard or a Fleet Finch, but I found their noses to be kind of tricky to work around. So I went with the Tiger Moth, just to be a bit different. That and I love the idea of a bright yellow plane with a little bit of black on his nose. That and I LOOOOOOVE things that would be considered obsolete... and biplanes are about as obsolete as they come in terms of fighter planes.
And look, he's not naked! He's wearing a coat, AND BOOTS! :o Don't ask me how he got them on, but when I think biplane training aircraft, I think scarf, flight jackets and such. I can't draw goggles, that's about the only reason he doesn't have a flight cap.
The little sketches up top are just a possible explination for how such a creature was created.
I think I spelled DeHaviland wrong.
Anyway, Moth & artwork © Ronald MacKinnon 2006.
