The lens of a disused GRS color-light signal is exposed to the elements along the Kankakee, Beaverville & Southern railroad on a cold, grey day. This signal once guarded the crossing of the Nickel Plate Road's east-west mainline with the New York Central's "Egyptian Line" to southern Illinois, and is old enough to have seen steam locomotives of the 1940s and '50s.
