Guess what news I've been following obsessively for the last week or so?

To bring everybody up to speed, there was demonstrations in São Paulo against the rising bus fare (as well as against political corruption in general, something Brazilis very familiar with) that was met with ridiculously excessive violence by the police. (For example, there was reports of protesters being dragged out of hospitals where they received care to get beaten some more and arrested.)

This sparked a series of demonstrations in sympathy and against the police all over Brazil as well as several foregin countries, and I have friends from São Paulo, right in the middle of all this. I was actually worried he'd get arrested or hurt since he went out to aid the protesters, but he's allright. I might do something inspired by his experience later.
