I hope you like this pose. I'm kind of fond if it myself. I admit I'm using the characters in this pic to help cure the deficit of anime in my influences lately.
PS, taking serious suggestions on anything currently available on Netflix to watch and see if it has an effect, I'm so out of the anime loop it's all the same to me, I literally do not know what to decide on and I'll give it five episodes or less to let it grow on me. Suggest away or back someone else's suggestion, I'm game.

I'm not sure if it's on Netflix or not as I think I got it on XBOX Live, but A Certain Scientific Railgun is good. Girly slice of life mixed in with some X-men style powers. It was different, at least. And the main girl controlled electricity to the point of being able to shoot of quarters like a railgun. Hence the name.
I don't know what you've seen, and what the range of anime on Netflix is like (browsed the UK version not long ago, very small variety compared to Lovefilm), but I will recommend the anime I've seen and liked:
Ghost In The Shell, Full Metal Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop, Desert Punk, Last Exile, Planetes, Redline, Black Lagoon.
And I got one more suggestion. It's not anime, but it's something I think everyone needs to see at least once. It's probably not on Netflix. It's a comedy series from the 80s called 'Allo, 'Allo. Here's an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcmZb8QU8UY

I suspect Allo Allo may be somewhat difficult to find stateside. (What made it such an unexpected success across Europe was probably that the French thought it made fun of the Germans, the Germans thought it made fun of the English and the Italians—when in fact it was just Brits having a laugh at everyone's expense.)
If you could use some comfort food, the anime that comes to mind would be Fruits Basket, Puella and, um, Janguru wa Itsumo Hare nochi Gū?
