awwwh I am so tired ;o; my arm is sore thanks to max-murphy, the kitties take away all my sleep and pancho's op is due in 2 weeks. and on top of all this I have to finish my finals project until the 22nd of september *sits in a corner and cries-a lot*.
This is the establish shot for it, it will be fictional spot for wacom and a 2D animation done the traditional way... it is about that tiny statue in the shrine who will come to life and discover all sorts of things. Metaphoric thought is the progress of creativity, first we are kind of "stone" when we search for an idea and then we come to life, we try, we fail, we succeed, we are proud of our final product and then our creation is just a memory because we start something new.
This was stressy but also a very good practice to step out of the comfortable-zone. I've always tried to avoid buildings and backgrounds but found that this was very, very enjoyable^^

I think a few big problems I have is things like the minor scratchy details like how the short grass and the tree leafs in this drawing have. I have no idea what brushes, settings, how... I cant get it from being a solid color and when I do try its always fuzzy and sux! ^^; Im good enough with characters though I constantly change my art style because Im unsettled by the fact I lack perfection! ^^; Its scenery that I have trouble with big time!
oooooh those little details require actual detail ;D just try to scribble in some lines with a small brush, they needn't be perfect. the tree was done with a foliage brush over some color blocking. Try to use low flow and the opacity jitter turned on-if you have photoshop^^ And then take the eye-dropper, do a stroke, take the eyedropper and slowly blend it all together. Greens are very hard to mix and blend as they reflect a lot of sky and earth tones so a kind of olive tone is your friend for the underpainting ;)
It is good not to have a fix style as style develops trough anatomy studies, trials with color and gray-scales and so on. You can do it, just keep practicing <3
