 
                
                    An art trade from late 2003/ early 2004 that originated on VCL, this is Toshi-Kun's witch-cat Claire, as she begins to dive into the cloud cover during a late-night flight. This is the only artwork produced as a result of that trade.
This piece contains some more firsts in the lighting department for my art, as it is my first time doing backlighting on a character (from the mist-shrouded moon and light reflected off the clouds below). Since I had her flying at night, I also made Claire emit a low-intesity energy ball from her right hand to light the way, casting a soft yellow glow on the broomhandle, her arms and legs. Add one more light effect for my next night scene.
For this image, the character (brush ink) and backdrop (digital) were drawn seperatley, then composited together in Micrografx Picture Publisher 8.

I knew those boots would be an attention getter..I can think of a few more styles I'd like to draw on a suitable character.
According to the drawing by the original artist, I think the spikes point sideways or backward, or a combination of both.
