Your partially right. motionjoy is all you need for the PS3 dualshock 3, but for the wireless xbox 360 you need the device.

yes really, a PS3 controller wont work properly unless you fool your computer into thinking its 360 controller and thats exactly what the Cronus device does. on top of that you can also use any controller on any console.

Not really, I use a ps3 controller on a pc this way, without that device!

I don't like/want a xbox, so i can't say if a 360 controller would work too with the program.

the Cronus works with ps3 controllers, 360 controllers, Wii remotes, and mouse and keyboard and it can fool your PC or console into thinking one of those controllers are a different controller.

here is why the Cronus device works great on PC, alot of PC games natively support the 360 controller so you can't use a different controller on a PC game unless you use a program like motionjoy or Xpadder. though all those programs do is replace the mouse and keyboard with the controller which means the controls aren't optimized for the controller.

since alot of PC games natively support the 360 controller you can hook up your PS3 controller to the Cronus device (by plugging the bluetooth receiver into the Cronus while the Cronus is plugged into your computer) and the Cronus will fool your computer into thinking your PS3 controller is a 360 controller, you can even remap all of the buttons with the Cronus. its easily the best way to play on PC with a PS3 controller.

Motioninjoy is all i need, it supports pressure, and motion (tilt) just fine, I can specify each key/stick to any control I want, including keyboard, mouse and joystick.

the analog triggers and analog sticks will not work right because mouse and keyboard is not analog. the best way to play PC games with a PS3 controller is with the Cronus device.

I guess you didn't used the software.. because the software can emulate a ps3 controller as a 360 controller, or even as a keyboard or as mouse or joystick (as default).
And yes, analog x/y axis work, all off them. You can even assign the pressure sensitive buttons as axis. (Ofcoure, it's better to use the sticks and the l2/r2 buttons as axis, but in theor you can use any button on the dualshock3.

I used my ps3 controller this way in many xbox 360-controller capable games, including skyrim, etc.

So no cronus device required. Only a plain usb-mini cable or bluetooth dongle.

which is still not nearly as good as the Cronus given that you can't use motionjoy on consoles.

I do this too, for the past year. It's friggin awesome because a lot of the newer games detect and set up everything for you.

alot of modern PC games support the 360 controller.

I got a black wireless one on my PC. Makes playing emulators and modern steam games so much easier.
