To be Furry
What does it mean to be furry?
Does it mean one must speak the language of animalese
Owe dept to a Tanuki for a home
and listen to a dog who plays a guitar on his knees
Does it mean that my choice of porn to peruse in
Must depict animals in acts society chooses not to enthuse in
Instead they take what they see and start accusing
That my deep interest in Starfox is more than a little confusing
But it’s ok for Robin Hood to be a fox and for Rocko to walk and talk
As long as I don’t emulate what is meant to be on the cartoons that I watch
For my interests do not differ much from any other
I speak a coherent language and learn much like any other
And just because my choice to nuzzle with my muzzle
May puzzle those who don’t understand the concept
Doesn’t make me an example of what not to be
Because my given lifestyle doesn’t hinder my possibilities
It’s bad enough that being gay is an issue in itself
But a gay furry to society, hell I might as well shoot myself
Yet I don’t see myself having sex with a stray cat on the street
I just look to network in a network with a net worth of people to meet
For if there is something I have learned about people in the furry fandom
Is that there is nothing like the people who are in the furry fandom
Sure we have our flaws and insecurities
Believe me if I get another –snuggles- or –huggles- at the end of a sentence I might go crazy
But furries are the nicest people around and that I can say with all surety
For you will never find acceptance in abundance
Much like the space the fandom creates
It’s a Social stratum for those to embrace others who relate
Interest in a concept beyond what most can assimilate
That we are what we believe in and the sonas we create
A frog and a dog, a cat and a bat
We come together as one and hate we combat
You see to me, what it means to be a furry
Is to be someone who is uniquely different
Yet inherently the same
Who isn’t afraid to express what is beyond the norm
Yet embrace those who stay within the norm
And appreciate art and humanity in all its shapes and forms
We only have one life to live and we live it well and through
To be a furry to me is a gift
And I hope it means the same to you
Not that many changes from the original version but I was looking at and writing material that I wanted to present and I think I will be going with this one to perform at Furfright
