It had it's problems, but overall I liked the idea. I think they should've spent more time on the science/military divide and maybe had a few more ships at launch, but overall pretty good. I also think it was a mistake to introduce time travel and the future war, which made no sense and was highly unpopular with fans.
Time travel was always a common thing in Star Trek. Every captain has been to the future or past (Maybe except for Janeway, but I'm not 100% sure. I only watched Voyager once). Most of the time, they managed it pretty well, or made it quite fun.
And Doctor Who is great and that's the whole premise of the show; time and space travel. However, remove that from the show, and it's a simple "monster of the week" show. A fun "monster of the week" show, but nothing else really.
It just so happens to generally have a bigger arcing storyline. Much like Trek.
Saying that DW should have the monopoly on time travel is like saying Trek should have the monopoly on space travel. Or alternate universes (which so far, Trek has pulled better than DW IMHO) should remain untouched because of Sliders. Or outer world exploration shouldn't be done by any other entity than Stargate. Or that anything underwater shouldn't be touched because seaQuest DSV did it.
Sci-fi shows are that: science fiction. They can do whatever they please, and saying "nobody else should do such and such thing because such and such show does it best" means you will needlessly reduce the potential storylines, and potential fun, you could have out of a show.

Well, you really could tell that both the writers and the actors were getting used to the characters and setting during the first season (Especially the guy doing Mayweather). By the second season, everyone had a pretty good idea what they were doing and what their roles were.
Third season was just epic; however making the whole Xindi thing longer would have had the same issues that the series got with the first two season and the Temporal Cold War. Overarching storylines oftentimes mean much dilution, and people tend to lose interest after the summer break. That's why season-long storylines, no matter what show, are the best (Voyager had an excuse because the whole theme of the series was "going back home", but that didn't stop them from having season-long themes).
And yes, totally in agreement with the vulcans; this has been one of my go-to reasons why Enterprise is awesome since day one.

I kind of didn't like how the Vulcans were so erratic, like the mind melding vulcans, and then by the TOS era mind melding is a time honored practice. Seems odd for a race so slow to evolve.
I did like the Xindi arc, but I'd hoped for a more exciting ending, rather than stretching it out to season 4.

Well, there is about 200 years between Enterprise and TOS.
And if I remember correctly, mind melding was something that was done a lot before Enterprise era, but had a stigma attached to it when a disease started appearing (Like HIV/AIDS and the gay community - that's what that was all about).
Eventually, it grew back as a time-honoured tradition as it was done in the olden days. Or, at least, that's what I understand. :X

100, not two. Enterprise is 22nd century, TOS is the 23rd.
And yeah, that is true, but the vulcans don't exactly embrace new things and social change at a rapid pace. 100 years doesn't seem like enough time for Vulcans to overcome prejudice, without an event that explains why. Which perhaps they would've shown in season 5, but we'll never know.

I never know the exact dates. Thanks for the correction. :X
Prejudice goes against logic. ;3
But to know that, you need to look for it, which is the issue with logic. If following a train of thought isn't logical, then why pursue it in the first place?
We've seen that a lot in the first season dealing with the Vulcans (IE: the ice comet episode. "We have no interest in this comet."). If it doesn't seem there is a logical reason to pursue something, it's logical to put your energy elsewhere.
And since this practice isn't new but "frowned upon", it's a matter of rediscovering things and embracing your past (which is logical because, as a human said before, "thoes who ignore the past are bound to repeat it", which is a waste of resources and isn't logical).
Anyhoo, we could certainly argue over this for a while, but without anything bridging both timelines, we can only speculate. :\

I kind of wish they'd had just one more season. I really liked the direction they were heading. :) I think that in the books they finally reached where I thought they should've headed from day one.
I had hoped they'd release six science ships and six military, and the first two seasons would be about their competing with each other, until at the end of two they'd unite and become the scientific/military hybrid they are in latter shows.
