This was a result of
BlickFen's recommendation on my call for creature ideas last week. Why is he wearing a velvet drinking coat? Well, when I think of armadillos, I first think of my dad's taxidermied armadillo he got from Texas. Considering armadillos are funny creatures, that makes me think of every funny Texan stereotype I could think of. Following that, I thought of the silly taxidermied armadillos from Mexico where they have a beer bottle and a sombrero. That in turn, made me think of every funny Mexican stereotype I could think of. On that vein I was going to draw a Poncho Villa armadillo with a huge sombrero and so on. However, thinking that predictable, I went with something I thought of as a rather polar opposite... hence, stuffy British-style old man in an evening drinking coat. Whee.
Fullview to see my craptastic quick line work.
For the record, armadillos don't have mouths like this. They seem to have a permanent O face, and I didn't really like it.

Permanent O face? Naw, they've got cute little mouths. Never trust taxidermy.
