This is one of first piece I ever did of Jessica Knight, so the character has evolved some since then in my mind. It is also from my Long Torso Era of figures.
This piece is special to me because it was the first time really looked at how garments are put together. I had known the general shapes of clothing and was starting to understand how folds and drapery worked, but this was the first I really stopped and looked at how the garment was assembled from individual pieces and how changing those pieces could dramatically alter the overall appearance. Also I was very happy with the look of the black leather.
The final detail was the double barrel whipit gun. There were several elements about it that I'd never tackled in this piece. One I'd never done blued steel up to this point, which is not black. I'd done parkarizing, and various other finishes but not bluing, Also I'm rather happy how the case-hardening came out on the receiver. It was an interesting mixture of blue, purple, pink, and gray. Image size 11'x 14". Medium color pencil with some marker, gouache and micron pen..

I see what you mean about the way the jacket's put together, and how that'd be especially important with leather being a stiffer material. This makes me rethink how I'd been looking at clothing, so thank you for being willing to talk about the piece in more of a context art-wise!
