Made a great deal of headway on my backlog, today, so here's another sketch. My apologies it's not a very clear image, as I didn't actually get to scan this piece before it sold, being done up in blue pencil for my sketch bin at Rainfurrest, last year.
As many of you know, it was through Redwall that I got into writing, and anthropomorphic characters. Though some may find the books childish, I found them warm and inviting, and with clear messages of right and wrong, good vs. evil and the power of standing up for yourself, and for those who cannot stand on their own. I will always love Redwall, and because I love it, I seldom draw anything from it, as I often fear my result will not measure up to the images in my head.
But, this time I decided to draw Matthias for the first time since I was in grade school, and to my surprise he came out very well. I do plan to eventually finish this piece as a treat to myself, but for now, please enjoy the sketch.

I still love the Redwall books and series, SO glad they got it on Netflix now. My favorite character was always Constance ^_^
Then again, Cornflower was just too cute.
And Basil is the living embodiment of comedic relief~!
Screw it, I love all of 'em.

Even though it's been years since I've read a Redwall book, I still love it as well. A lot of my drawings and paintings are still inspired by the Redwall world, and my main character is also based off Redwall too. I owe Brian Jacques a lot for his writing and his imagination!
Great stuff as always, Mongoose! I love the pose and the line quality of this one. =)
