Here's an example of my music, which I tend to work on in fits and starts. I use Sonar Studio 8.5 with samples from EastWest Studios' Quantum Leap series of libraries, and I primarily write orchestral soundtrack-style music.
This piece was inspired by an (unfinished) RP I wrote several years ago with a friend of mine called "The Gryphons of Drakenfall." The two main characters were a human wizard named Sasha and a fierce gryphoness named Rus who run into each other while Sasha is practicing his gryphon transformation spells. When Rus is struck by a hunter's crossbow bolt, Sasha panics and transforms them both into humans to protect her. But in the process, he inadvertently locks their forms together so they can be both human or both gryphons, but they can't both return to their natural forms. Rus hates humans... so, yeah, she's not so happy about this.
The theme itself is about their journey in search of a more powerful wizard who can help them unbind the spell. Picture sweeping, Lord-of-the-Rings-style helicopter shots of a rolling, wintry landscape with two gryphons soaring over the mountains. It's short, but it effectively captured the emotion I was going for.
