An African Gray parrot drawing I made some time ago for fun c: African Grays are such great birds, they're generally a little more shy and can get more easily spooked. They also have a harder time adjusting to sudden changes but they can make a brilliant and very intelligent companion. Smarter than any other species of bird, they have the mental capabilities of a toddler! c:
They are also heavier bodied birds so giving them a heavy clipping on the wings is not smart, they will crash and can break their chest bone easily. Also an important thing to know about these guys is they require more calcium in their diet. A calcium deficient African Gray can become very brittle when handled! They can produce extra dust/dander from their skin and feathers so they're not ideal for someone with respiratory problems.
There are two types of African Grays. Congo grays and Timneh grays. Congos are generally larger, have a lighter gray coloring, and a bright red tail. They also have a solid black beak. Timneh grays are smaller, darker, and have a very dark red tail with a pink or pale/tan smudge on the front of their upper beak c:
African Grays are not screamers, they are talkers, whistlers, and love to mimic sound effects. They are fast learners and can chit chat all day, singing songs or just repeating their favorite noises. Other parrots usually like to just scream, so yes, African Grays can be good apartment birds especially if you're a quiet person c:
Just some random african gray info in case anyone would fine it interesting ^w^

Daw, they are really great birds to have X3 I was close to getting one once from a rescue, he was super sweet and couldn't fly and he was SO scared around people but omg I loved him and wanted to get him. I was supposed to foster him but he got adopted before I got the chance to XD Someday I'll get one, though c: I bet it's not easy caring for a handicapped birdie, though!
Awwww D: Poor baby! It's so lame how bad breeders basically doom animals later in life, aack it makes me so mad DX Breeders should be 100% on top of every necessary piece of info they'd need to properly feed breeders and babies. I used to work at petland and omg the pups and birds that came in, it was SO obvious they were not going to last long and yet pet stores get them in cheap then turn around and sell them 2-3 times more than breeders sell perfectly healthy baby animals for D: It's super lame. Well at least you could offer her a good home despite all that!
