Herman's first summer jobs were in organized crime. Sadly, that's a real good prep school for government work.

Well, that's not technically true. As someone who suffers from a (seemingly) permanent, albeit mild case of perpetual tinnitus in one ear, I know for a fact that some hearing loss CAN be temporary. It just depends on the circumstances. Though I suppose in the case of an explosion, that chances of permanent hearing loss is indeed high. But it can also be temporary in some cases, which is why I asked. Though from the looks of things (again lol), it seems like he's adapted pretty well to it and/or it isn't so severe as to noticeably impair his ability to carry on a normal conversation.
I expect that the hearing loss is a little from column A, a little from column B.
If you rate your before hearing as 100, than it might be 5 immediately after, and go back to 80 or 80 given time, depending on just HOW loud it was. Maybe 50 or 60 in this case.
And hearing loss is normally not "flat". He likely has more trouble hearing high pitched sounds than low pitched sounds.
But anything is possible for A person. Within reason.
