For the moments we had; the moments we talked about; the moments we never got together. For the time in the mud. For the highs and the lows. For that which is no more.

The skies reminded me today of something I wanted to forget,
I know the clouds were grey the day we parted,
even if the blues were empty.
So many thoughts remain unsaid,
I learnt that long ago in Bitter 101,
Mistakes we make create their chains;
I wonder how long it's been since I threw away the keys,
And locksmiths are scarcer now we're done.
The grey hangs onto winds and deface the sky tapestries,
Despite the voluntary efforts to clean up,
it's tough because of red tape,
And I hope you won't mind, it's all in my head;
You kissed it once, not knowing that was what funded all the marker pens.
Someone's getting tail as bribe,
'cause in the business world,
That's the quickest fix to deal with the fallout.
The roiling hills come crashing down with the grey,
'Cause every now and then that happens
And I know umbrellas ain't the cure,
But I'm allergic to the growth of thicker skin;
I don't know if the day will come,
When the blues will drown out the thunder of the grey storm,
I know I won't forget the mountaintops
The day you gave me to the sky.

This is hauntingly beautiful. It's a sentiment I know only too well, and you express it incredibly. You have a turn of phrase that I admire, just from reading this one piece by you: "I'm allergic to the growth of thicker skin"... that says so bloody much. I can feel your hurt, from my own hurt that this makes ache. Oh, sir. What a writer you are. *bows* Thank you for sharing this.
