Today, the United States Supreme Court stood on the right side of history and struck down key provisions of DOMA (a discriminatory law denying federal benefits to legally-married LGBT couples). They also dismissed an appeal to ban gay marriage in California, meaning that same-sex couples in CA now have the freedom to marry.

The fight goes on: today's decision doesn't grant equal rights to LGBTs everywhere in the US. In the South, in the Rockies, in Alaska - gay couples there are routinely discriminated against, and the Supreme Court decision today won't change that.

But I want all of you to know that today is a good day for equality, and today I am proud to be an American.
