Choc chip classic cookies to cheer and cherish from the kitchens of
puffin-cooks
There are chocolate chip cookies and then there are [i]chocolate chip cookies[i]. These are most definitely the latter. Gooey, rich, soft, yielding to the touch, they are everything a good classic cookie should be. And the cookie dough that goes into making these is absolute heaven on its own -- after a taste, you'll be lucky if you have anything saved for the oven!
Adapted from allrecipes.
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups flour, all purpose
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon hot water
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup chocolate chips
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Mix the butter and sugars until a smooth
batter forms. Add in the egg, then stir in the vanilla. In a small, separate bowl, dissolve the baking soda into the hot water and stir. Add this mixture to the batter with the salt and stir. Add the flour, slowly, then fold in the chocolate chips.
Prepare baking pans by lining them with parchment paper. Place rounded spoonfuls of the batter onto the pans, about 12 per pan. Bake for about 8-10 minutes, until the edges are just browned. If they look a tiny bit under in the center, don't worry -- that's how they're supposed to look! This recipe yields about 24 cookies and can be easily doubled, tripled, et cetera.
