One piece of evidence of the city's Neo-Luddite problem with the furries is that more and more of them are choosing to live off the grid. Also, one citizen expresses her disapproval of the direction America is going, and so she moves to Chad for the rest of her life.

I shut off my tablet's network location 'service' because it doesn't serve me, and it's nobody's goddam business where I am. 'Verizon.com' is close enuf, and I hide my computer network. Traceroute me sometime. I keep my cell phone off except when I make a call. I figger the damn IRS should keep out of people's business. *offers the gov't a unidigit salute*

Yes, and that's a sad commentary on the human species. We also go out of our way to kill powerful animals and steal their supposed sexual power, like we're so traumatised we're not the biggest baddest thing on the planet. We kill other humans who don't even know we exist, just to prevent the few who might attack us. I am pleasantly surprised we haven't killed ourselves off with h-bombs -- the first weapon so bad people don't use it -- "a strange game, the only winning move is... not to play"
I feel like the primal mind that kept us alive when we were still trying to bang rocks together in a cave is now our undoing. Which is why I interpret "Act Natural" and "Let nature take its course." as "Act monstrous." A person in tune with their primal side hates, they fear things that arent necessarily there, they cull their weak instead of helping them, they subscribe to a pack mentality which often doesnt have wise ideas,
We need to keep advancing technlogy until its advanced enough to extinguish the primal mind completely, casualties along the way be damned if it means a better future.

In the end, I think it all comes down the fact that I am just who I am. As one that has mild Asperger's syndrome, it has been more challenging from me in some areas than others. My parents didn't even think I'd graduate from high school. But I got there, and I graduated from college, too. Now if only I can get hired by someone in this bad economy.
