"All war is deception." - Sun Tzu
And Nikki has studied her lessons well. In their typically devious fashion Team Jet pulls the momentum right out from under their opponents as Nikki's plan enters phase two - isolate the true object of her wrath and take out her support, by whatever means necessary.
Substitute is another odd move that I had to give some thought as to how it would work. In the end I decided to borrow from the Ninja High School and Naruto-esque influences of the PCA and give it the traditional anime ninja flair. The user takes advantage of a diversion and disappears, leaving the substitute in their wake. After it's been mashed, the user attacks from ambush. I was tempted to have Nikki's substitute turn into a log but I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
Nikki - Substitute (technically used two pages ago), Slash, Pay Day
Tenebra - Payback, Strength
Methelza - Mimic (Leech Seed), Confuse Ray
Edit: I added the "ray" back into the panel with Bubba getting hit by Confuse Ray since it didn't seem to be clear what was happening.

Heh, Tenebra likes bats huh, howabout someone applying this particular bat on her.

Heh, I'd vote for the guy in the picture doing it. Lol, anyways, great followup, yet again more answers to how these attacks would work are teh answered.

True enough, though its not a *small* percentage either. One-quarter of your life force is nothing to sneeze at, especially considering she's been hit in the fight before- but considering the overwhelming advantage it put her into, it was a very successful gambit.
On a question for Substitute, at least your interpretation- What happens to the original while its in effect? Invisible? Intangible?

Well, based on the setting, it can range from "Invisible/Intangible", to "Perfectly Visible, but no one noticed because they were looking at the duplicate", to "They were there the whole time, but they teleported away when hit", to "We aren't gonna tell you or even make up our own minds."
Heh, the more see/read about Team Jet, the more I'm convinced that Team Jet vs Team Safari would be an awesome fight. Not that I'd expect them to win (as you often say, there's a *reason* they're number 1), but it'd be some crazy over-the-top action. And Team Jet, as Marv put it, would "Know they'd been in a fight, that's for damn sure."
Not sure how it'd actually *happen*, though, as I don't see Team Safari intentionally doing anything to draw Team Jet's attention, nor can I figure out why Team Jet would put their sights on a mid-high ranked Junior team.

Yeah I didn't really see a need to define it. I'm not a big fan of "defining" everything, once you start doing that you take the magic and mystery out of it, as it were.
Heh everyone wants a piece of Team Jet, but that was kind of the idea. They were deliberately designed to be the villainous "boss" team, so yeah, they're a little stronger than others. But on a level appropriate for the "boss", if that makes sense.

Yeah sorry for the delay, wrist and forearm were demanding a break from drawing for a bit but all's good now. Hey, they know their business, sometimes the best way to deal with a scrapper is to just deny them the chance to fight. Sooner or later they'll get frustrated and beat themselves.
I think she might have generated them before the fight, making them legit- not sure, we'd have to ask Carlito.
And yeah, Pokemon fights are *brutal*. I get the impression that, in general, Pokemon (and morphs) are much tougher in general than humans, so they can live through allot more...
There's also the fact that Team Jet is brutal for even for 'morphs.

I think it might be me rebelling against the whole pussyfoot approach that the cartoon has towards battles. Somehow I just can't buy into a claw attack causing the victim of such to just fly backwards without a scratch or a mega kick to knock them backwards slightly dizzy. A Flamethrower will most likely set someone on fire, imagine that. Powerful attacks should show it, and hitting someone with razor sharp claws, well, will probably make them bleed. Though Tenebra did grow up in an environment where excessive violence was expected and encouraged, so she in particular plays rough.
As for Pay Day, I know that in the game it creates coins for the user to throw, but I just can't see that in a pokemorph world, all sorts of problems with something like that. Nikki actually can't create them, but she does have the ability to throw them with superpowered accuracy and power, think Bullseye from Marvel. She carries them into the arena with her but it's perfectly legal, same as a cubone's club weapon or a Farfetchd's leek.

I don't see why, to my knowledge leech seed doesn't do anything to prevent its victims from acting. Now in the anime bulbasaur's version grows vines that entangle them, but really all she needs to do is make eye contact. He kind of did that when he spit it at her in the first place.
Yes, but in the cartoon, bulbasaur's version also seems to have the side effect of entangling them in the vines to various degrees, from being held immobile to being slightly annoyed by them. That seems to be the version that was presented last page, so that's what I went with here.
This has gone from a battle to a brawl to a full-on beatdown in quite a short time... Nikki definitely wasn't kidding when she said "make 'em bleed". I'm anxious to see if this ends up being a squash match or the biggest upset in school history.
Eddie: [sulking] Hrmph. Last time I tried using Pay Day in a battle, my opponent accused me of trying to bribe them and I almost got disqualified...

He used to practice on a picture of Arnie taped to a dartboard, but he had to quit after he started throwing the coins so hard that they punched through the walls of his dorm room. He's got a couple of new ideas on how to employ it, but for now he just throws money around in the figurative sense, rather than doing it literally. :)
Axel: Daaaammn. *holds throat* This battle is going far worse than I originally tought it would.
Jerome:Well what did you expect Axel? Nicole is one tough Meowth and she is dangerous when she's mad.
Axel:Well good thing I'm not facing her and that Raigon overslept or else he would want to fight her team.
Jerome: I feel sorry for you to have him for a leader.

Nice way of including the Payday move into the fight. Though to be fairly honest, I did expect more from Tenebra than taking Charmanda by suprise like that given she has the biggest reputation (hides in unknown location for own safety).
I DID expect Nicole to do something sneaky like that though.
Also, I get what you did with the confuse ray.
Poor, Mitzi though, she really did take a hit there.
So, wouldn't this make Stunner the only member of Red Team standing (barely)?

Damon: *watching intently*
Sammy: Obsessed, much?
Damon: If I intend to best them, I need to study them.
Grace: C'MON YOU FRESHMAN PUSSIES! BUCK UP!
Maria: You're getting into this waaaay too much.
Grace: Y'know, I just want to see Team Jet get their arses kicked. DAMMIT, DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW TO FIGHT! SAMMY CAN TAKE A SENIOR DOWN IN 30 SECONDS FLAT!
Sammy: SHUT UP, Grace!
Nick: Really Grace. We aren't going to get involved in this.
(Great pic!)

This is rather intense. I didn't realize the combat could get so brutal...I am now wondering what rules there are for combat?
Still, I'm hoping my Spiritomb is allowed to be in the PCA setting. He may not be because of his various quirks and oddities that are both physical and mental in nature. These oddities are a result of his literally unique biology, but his mental attitude makes him try to balance out his advantages.. Nicole just may be the one he'll make an exception for...
Also, I have a scene in mind between him and Mitzi which is mistaken as something else by Nicole.

Well if you compare pokemorph battles to a pro wrestling or mixed martial arts match with superpowers (which is kind of how I see them, in a very general way) those kind of matches can get pretty intense and brutal, especially when there's bad blood between the combatants. And hard-hitting, powerful moves are going to leave opponents with a bloody nose here and there. In general as long as the attack isn't intentionally trying to cause injury or isn't way more force than is necessary (throwing a Giga Impact at someone who's barely clinging to consciousness for example), it's all good.
Of course some of that likely depends on the ref, just like in the real world. And Perjan seems to have taken a "just let them fight" approach. Real world referees will sometimes do that when there's a match with a lot of bad blood involved. And remember that these pokemoprhs are tough, and it's all relative. What would be a catastrophic, bone-breaking hit to a normal human doesn't amount to much more than a solid open-field tackle to them.
