Here is my submission to
hibbary's themed group show at AC2013. The theme is "Memento Mori", and I wanted to both pay homage to the genre according to classical tradition, and give it a bit of a personal/fandom twist. Hopefully I succeeded at that, and if not, at least I learned a ton more about painting while working on this!
I'm both stoked and honored to have been invited to take part in this project, especially since I attribute a lot of my recent fun with acrylics to the wealth of knowledge that Hibbary shared at her FWA panels this spring. I think the group show is a fantastic idea, and I hope it takes off. Creating something to fit a specific theme is always a fun challenge, and it's going to be so cool to see everyone's interpretations hung together at the show this weekend. Can't wait! I've already seen some uploaded here, and they're all looking fantastic.
The scan and photos of this leave much to be desired, unfortunately, but hey! I'll try again when I've got some good ol' natural sunlight tomorrow morning. Or, you know, you could go to AnthroCon and see it in person :)
