Bernadette post feeding. I do love seeing my babies so content.
IMPORTANT
This is my PET! While I do not expect everyone to love her, I DO expect people understand that I love her and that it is extremely rude to joke about killing someone's beloved pet.

You say that, and yet your original comment was pretty pointless and kind of rude. Did you somehow think that as a person that loves this animal I want to hear about how you don't like her?
Seriously, if you wouldn't say this about someone's dog/cat/fluffy bunny, don't say it about my pets. A little common sense goes a long way to not wasting my time.

Poisonous means the toxins are delivered in a more passive way: ingested, absorbed through the skin, or inhaled. Not just touch.
She's beautiful and fascinating to watch. I have learned so much about centipede behavior since having her, plus I just love caring for her- that makes her a great pet in my book.
It's not like she's a dog that runs about free, able to rip my hand off should she take a mind to. Honestly, dogs bite thousands of people every year and no one questions why we bring them into our homes.

True, canines can be dangerous. Anything with teeth or claws can be. Humans to. It all depends on the way the creature is raised. Animals are "empathic" and responds to the pheromones released by other creatures. If you're scared of the animal, it will respond. Whether it's to try and comfort you. Or attack you, depends on the animal. If it was brought up in a kind environment, where fear usually meant unease and pain of a loved one. They'll comfort you. If raised in an ugly environment where fear means usually something will harm it. They'll attack you.
I've had snakes, which were venomous, my favorite was my baby moccasin, a gift from a friend. He got me the egg. And she was the sweetest snake, I had. My confusion with your pet? I'm not saying it's a bad one. I'm just...while insects are fascinating, I can't read them. I can read reptiles and mammalia. Insects, I can't, and that's why I'm always hesitant around them. Spiders creep me out but, their webs are gorgeous. Scorpions are down right evil looking and I've handled a couple. Aside from the "base" signal with a rearing limb? I can't "sense" the creature's intention.
Her colors are pretty, I've never been close to an insect to see the variations before. So thank you for posting her. And for tolerating my "naive" thoughts about her

Yet people have greater prejudice against my pets than they do against dogs.
Insects are very easy to understand, that's why they are the models for a lot of self directed robots. Bernadette does not attack me because I never corner her or make her feel the need to defend herself. She largely ignores me because I am too big to eat. Same with my tarantula, she understands that I am not a threat to her, and has even learned to associate metal tongs with the presentation of food.
I have never seen anything wicked about arachnids, when I was little I adored scorpions. They are very calm animals, and emperor scorpion is as tame as any house cat.
It's easy to tell the my pets live a very stress free life because they spend most of their time out in the open, relaxed. They have no fear of being attacked or harassed, they know they are safe with me. Even the wasps that live on my deck seem to be at peace around me. I sit outside and they crawl around on me, but they don't like strangers. I'm the only one they are pleasant with.
