I'm so behind on commissions I should just die............... but I am gonna buckle down and tackle them all, so sorrryyyyyyrrrrgGGGGHHH
but here's bubblegum! everyone's favorite alien girl
bubblegum trivia!
1) people tend to forget/overlook how long her hair actually is (just past her shoulder blades). this is likely cuz the length shown from the front seems much shorter, because it's cut like a triangle. she cuts it herself...
2) gol-gorothian reproduction is interesting! she is mere months from being sexually mature despite everything. what this means for a gol-gorothian girl is that her incubator is now able to be opened and closed on command. the incubator is exactly what it sounds like, considering the males of the species are the ones with eggs.
3) she speaks four and a half languages, all due to being raised on a colony ark. her species' native language was the second language she learned, after new galactic common.
4) she, like all gol-gorothians, is a naturally amazing swimmer. her lungs can hold a shit ton of air when underwater and her body can withstand far more pressure than ours. gol-gorothians are considered a somewhat amphibious species, all their hair aside.
5) since her mother died shortly after she was born and her father left for adventure when she was a tadpole, she has not met another gol-gorothian (there are only a couple billion in existence and all of them live on another ark; bubblegum's father wanted to be on the ark they were on for occupational reasons).
6) her hips are wide because she's got an incredibly powerful lower body. while she's not going to win any arm-wrestling matches anytime soon, she could pretty easily kick some poor asshole's skull in if she were a violent person.
7) her new galactic common accent is similar to what we'd call a country or southern accent, though it isn't especially prominent.
8) she likes spicy foods the most!
9) while she isn't highly educated whatsoever, she is full of technical skills. she's a gifted mechanic, budding roboteer, electrician, sound mixer, plumber, and she even knows how to pilot standard ships (thought she doesn't have a license yet, due to her age). most of these come from being bossed around on the ark, as she's the only kid.
10) bubblegum was not named at birth. she named herself as a toddler, called merely "child" and "young one" by her guardian until then. she recognizes it's a strange name but she takes pride in it. to her, it was the first step in seizing her own fuckin destiny.
11) as most people know by now, her dream is to outshine her hotshot explorer father, who deserted her. she begins with a strong hatred for the concept of a "normal family." while, a part of this is of course jealousy, she legitimately does not hold "family" high on her Personal List Of Important Things.

well she's still on the ark until her lil adventure begins, having never left it in her life
the arks are enormous, first of all. they shelter thousands of families of various races, which are usually always together. like while there are many other gol-gorothians in the galaxy, bubblegum is the only one on her ark because all the rest are on others, together. but they try to keep things as simple and inexpensive as possible so everything is very minimal. rooms are all white and only just big enough, coming in various grades due to the size of the family or alien that lives there. they're like prisons to many. food is rationed for everyone and the majority of mothers and fathers and everything in between have to work on the ship itself to make meager spending money. they do have entertainment-- as much escapism as possible-- and some even have sports leagues. but they suck. bubblegum hates her ark more than she normally would because there are no children. it's full of old scholars and retired aliens who made a name for themselves in hands-on work like construction.

I know she hates the concept of a family, but how does she feel about other relationships? Like, normal friendships with other people and also romantic relationships. She strikes me as the type of girl who wouldn't trust new people.

her only friend is a timid robot that can't speak so it'd be hard to guess how she'd react to real friendships, but at least she's peppy. while she may be really blunt most of the time, some people are bound to like her positive attitude. she does make a few friends on her little journey though, as it's safe to assume, but she's slower to be friendly with adults. romantically, she's oblivious. a gol-gorothian her age would probably be getting in trouble with her parents for staying out too late with boys but she's always been surrounded by old people and most of them aren't even remotely handsome...
but anything new fascinates her, including new people. she's naive and likely to forget her common sense than be cautious around new aliens. this comes into play big time when she visits the three-mooned aquatic planet mirovogo, where she accidentally lets herself be bought and sold

Awww, I bet that gets lonely sometimes. Where and how did she meet the robot? And yeah, if she's as upbeat as she seems, she'll have no trouble making friends. It's a shame that she doesn't have anybody her age on the ark, especially with her being so young. Being around only old people is not the best way for a child to grow up.
Damn, that sounds like some real trouble that she gets into. I can't wait to see more of that part of her history, especially how she manages to get out of that.

the robot, an m83 utility droid named "pierre," was actually left for her by her father. but by the time she was old enough to know how she felt about her old man, she was much too attached to the little guy to just kick it aside. m83 units are the smallest of all utility droids and are usually just used for cooking and cleaning, sometimes as companions for babies and stuff. technology on the arks is stable so it still isn't outdated by the time she reaches the age she's at
I haven't given him a new name yet but he's a very old and mysterious creature of a sexless amorphous race with a very small population and very secretive customs. they are fonts of knowledge and claim to exist to chronicle the secrets of the universe. but they do this through others and bubblegum's guardian is as such because he traveled with her father the first time he went adventuring, which made him famous. you'd assume he's waiting to do the same with bubblegum but he never speaks of his intentions and talking of his future is pointless to him because of how time moves from his perspective. gol-gorothians have terribly short lifespans so, unless anything happens to him, he'll easily outlive bubblegum (although to be fair he will be in his elderly stage by then). his race seems to be the wisest and most powerful but there are so few and they are so ridiculously passive that they're no threat to any planet/nation/society/whatever
