Sometimes my characters yell at me.
... So, armor has been one of my artistic banes for years. Which has been quite the hassle now that I have several fighter and paladin characters with personalities and actions that demand to be drawn.
Like Altonor, here. I've been avoiding designing his armor for months because I've been terrified of doing it wrong.
Well, these past few days, I was without internet, so I bit the bullet and did a whole bunch of armor studies. And then the time came to put it all together. To actually draw a full suit of armor.
I thought, "well, maybe I'll do it in layers. Start with the gambeson in one doodle, then the chainmail over the gambeson in another, then actually do the plate..."
I did a gambeson drawing, which I didn't scan. I started on chainmail.
.... annnnnnd my own character got fed up with waiting and yelled at me. ^^;
It's actually good that I stopped there and redrew the hand and expression to turn this picture into self-motivation to get on with it. At the rate it was going, that chainmail would have taken me a good hour or two. ^^;
