Just a story concept I came up with slightly inspired by some of my childhood TV shows and Movies.

The real world ticks along, everyone goes about their business as normal, going to work, coming home, sleeping, going to work and so on. Everyone goes through the same grind completely unaware of the world that had been created in what is termed ‘Cyberspace’.

Only ever glimpsed via the internet but that hardly reveals the true extent that this virtual world has grown. It grew on its own away from the eyes of all on the Earth eventually developing landscapes made from data and soon creatures made from data bits formed. These creatures remained as oblivious to the real world as those in the real world were of them with no real access between them being discovered.

So it was for years that the ‘Cyber World’ grew unseen, the creatures forming into tribes based on the type of data bits that created them. Some of them appeared as creatures seen on the Earth but bipedal and with circuits over parts of their bodies. Others looked much more alien or mythical.

Then the ‘Bridge’ appeared, formed from data and coding randomly converging and forming a link between the real world and the constantly growing ‘Cyberspace’. However all the creatures that became aware of it were only able to observe this new world through cameras connected to the internet. They found it to be a most strange place but were also highly curious about the humans that lived there, especially after they learned how to read the data on the internet as we would read a book. They also learned of video games and often enjoyed taking part as characters of the games, their appearance changing to match the game they were taking part in. This was harmless to them and many of them enjoyed playing against the humans in these games though always being careful not to reveal themselves.

The creatures, now calling themselves Data Sprites, grew more and more curious about how far the ‘Bridge’ linked them into the real world. They now seek for a means to contact the humans and maybe pull them into their world…
