Further ..er...fleshing-out Noniyah, the rasta-sheep ewe who showed up as a foil for Molly McAlister in some of my art and in Leslie-R's fiction. What was generically a sheep with dread-like wool has evolved into a plush wooly rasta head-cook and maitre'd of an alternate-sexuality-friendly club/restaurant called "The Flocking Point", which apparently keeps a Caribbean menu.
For an image that was literally me just goofing-around, I'm very pleased with this one: the whole piece turned out amusing and appealing, vaguely cartoonish in a fun way.
The title comes from Noniyah's accent, and her description of the "Ladle of Power" - anyone growing up in a rural or old fashioned household knows all about the wooden spoon; I made a joke around my former in-laws about "Den to koutala!" ("Not the spoon!" in Greek), and they roared with laughter, so I suspect it's pretty much universal.

Well, essentially there are lots of gay-bars, lesbian-bars, drag-queen bars etc... 'The Flocking Point' was more a bar-restaurant (founded originally by herding-hoofers) where the LBGT crowd and their straight friends could do all the fun and games of of the typical (or atypical) gay bar and also be able to go and have a nice meal without suffering the yobbos who'd make crude comments about the aggressively ample-bosom'd ewes making-out at the bar.
Well, in the story she's making callaloo. I'm not sure that counts as what we'd call traditional soul-food here in the US, though it definitely counts as soul-food for islanders. She does seem like the sort, and the "feel" I have for "The Flocking Point" so far does seem to suggest that sort of menu though: stuff that makes the customers feel comfortable and happy.
