There was a 220SE coupe made in the early 1960's, but this is a 230CE, 280CE or if it's a diesel, it would be a 300CD.

Yes actually. The 50's benz were ugly, but they were classy ugly. Everything went wrong in the 60's, and it took them till the 2000's to put it all right again. They went through their bulging headlight phase, and this one, the plain and boring phase till about the late 90's. When they realized that angles, curves, and the such were more interesting than straight lines broken up with angles of 90 and 45 degrees.

That's fair. That puts my SL65 in the good looking era.

well yeah the E30 M3 is way better but the benz was a full on sleeper

Oh yes the 80 cars...the ugly boxy era when cars really looked all the same and had no more style...and this Mercedes looks better but it still is an 80's Mercedes.
