Alright, this was just plain awesome!
Ok, a LOT to say about this one, so take a deep breath, finish those chips and open your peepers to start a readin'!

Ok, so after my little meeting with Randall, I managed to get him to join me in a little excursion to the holo-deck, which he wasn't aware he had been to before. Of course he'd normally decline, I think, but he was already some-what tipsy, so I got lucky and he got on board. I'll talk about how that all went in a moment...
Recently, I learned that Kingdom Hearts 3 was teaser-trailed along with FF15 (how many are they going to make??). I've been wanting to talk about that series for awhile, so got my chance!
Kingdom Hearts! The clash between RPG drive-force Square Soft (or...is it Square Enix? I keep forgetting) and the plentiful-overpowered-company that is Disney molding themselves into a cross-over barrage of fun and entertainment!
To be honest, when I first heard of Kingdom Hearts and saw screens I was like "...Is this Winnie the Pooh guy going to be kicking butt in COMBAT?!" and got rather excited at the prospect to see once-wholesome Disney characters picking up swords and flinging magic.
Ok, that thought didn't happen, but it was STILL cool. Heartless? The power of the heart? The struggle between Light and Darkness?? The splitting up of a friendship that transverses through nearly the whole series??
I'll just focus on the main series for now.
Kingdom Hearts gave us the basis. The Keyblade, the Heartless, the temptation of the power of darkness and falling from the light. There's some strong stuff in there once you look past the Disney portions. But that's Square's contribution. Disney's is all the characters they got and the ability for YOU (as Sora, and others later) to jump on in and explore their worlds and fight beside them. It's pretty cool. I loved kicking Heartless butt, swinging that Keyblade and had fun doing it!
Kingdom Hearts CoM threw me for a loop, as I'm sure it did for everyone, as an off-console, different gameplay workings. But hey, I'm a card-dude here and there, so gave it a chance. Interesting way to go about it I guess, it was fun to do. The story upped things a little by introducing Organization 13...not properly...but enough to make you question just what was going on and where the series was heading. Have to admit the whole "remember by forgetting" thing still throws me in that loop, but then again...later ON, you realize that this Castle Oblivion place matters a lot more than just a single romp through it's halls.
Kingdom Hearts 2 brought things up even higher. Battles were better, enemies were more varied now with the Nobodies, and Organization 13 starts to be known better. Lots of reveals going on. I liked Roxas's playthrough at the start, was nice to have a slight change from Sora. But yeah, Sora gets his big-boy-pants (literally, his others were too short heh), and a more...mature (I think) attitude as the stakes get tougher. Also, I GOT TO SAY...Mickey shows his "Took a Level in Badtail" by being Mr. Don't-Mess-With-Me. You can only play him if you mess up in certain places, but it's awesome to see him kick-some-butt!
Now, that leaves, for the moment, Birth By Sleep, the prequel. (Na, haven't done Dream Drop yet, here's hoping for later though). Things are upped here too, but now you get a three-stories. Naturally the three (Terra, Aqua, Ven) remind you of other characters, for somewhat slap-to-the-head obviousness, and it's nice to play in their different styles. Of course the point is learning why baldy (Xehanort) is so obsessed with Kingdom Hearts and what he did to poor old Ven. Which sorta kicks EVERYTHING else off involving Sora, Riku, and everybody else. Which isn't yet resolved.
So, Kingdom Hearts 3 is in development. As said, haven't played Dream Drop yet...but know the score.

Ok, now the transmission piece.
As said, coaxed Randall to come, thanks to his drunkish state, and loaded Mirage Arena from BBS. I thought it was kind of obvious the guy had some frustrations and stuff to get out...and all I know is...beating the crap out of generic enemies that want to beat YOU up is a good way to take it out!
So, hologramed him up a spiffy suit (if you can see it in this shot) that, at least in this simulation, would help with his cool invisibility skill. Loaded up a keyblade and the appropriate duds for myself...and...since we needed another party member to complete the trio, I loaded up somebody random from a game I was working on here and there, Final Fantasy A2.
So, I've got the Keyblade. Makes me party leader tehehehe! So like any keyblader, got the melee down and the magic. Just holding on to a Cure spell JUST in case. The keyblade's based off the Kingdom Key, just added a sorta tube appearance to fit with what I've been working around lately. Needless to say, I may not be as fast as Sora...but I can swing that thing pretty well when it's fit to my specifics hehehe. I'm also not as gullible as Sora can be, at least I'd like to think so, so I won't be looking the other way in a fight.
Randall rounds out...I guess a role similar to Goofy (Yep, as said, that's the REAL Randall, not a hologram. I omitted his diaper, took some editing to do, because he's probably got enough to worry about at the moment with that whole "pink hearts" thing. Besides, he was drunk, and his state at the time....yeeeaaahhh...) Granted, he's not a semi-pacifist that uses a shield instead of an actual weapon. In fact, he IS the weapon. You see those moves he's done? He launched a blue behemoth three times his size several feet with a flick of his tail! And THAT'S when he wasn't at his best. Anyway, Randall's got his multi-limbs, and he was attacking the things like crazy. I think his equipable weapon was a tail-band...you'd think it'll hurt enough on it's own but hey, we all need equippable stuff hehehe. I also figured to give him something like Riku's "Dark Mode". Yeah, figured with the crap he's gone through, Randall's not as much as "in the light" in Kingdom Hearts terms. But, like Riku, he's got control of it. Let's just say, glad he's on my side.
So, I got Sora, Randall rounds out the melee side...leaves us a magic. So I picked....Hurdy! For those who don't know, Hurdy is a moogle from Final Fantasy Tactics A2 for the Gameboy Advance. He's the youngest of a set of moogle brothers and figured that...since Randall's...well...Pixar (I'm thinking game terms here out of respect for him)...needed somebody from Square so...picked a moogle! Went for the youngest since Hurdy's less famous than Montablac is. Like moogles are shown in tactics, he's quite the spell caster, and his bard spells could have effects that stay on the party throughout combat (think Dragon Age). He's also got that cheerful disposition to him (which goes in contrast with Randall's normal non-cheerful disposition)...so I think he rounds us out quite well. Besides, he's a moogle...moogles run shops (aside from Donald's nephews). Think he can get us discounts? Heheheheh.
Of course, even though a caster, him and Randall, despite HIS injuries, are pretty capable in a fight. Neither of them are like Donald "Walking Glass" Duck who gets KOed a lot heheh.
---
But anyway...as said, had some fun. I WAS careful of course, not to have difficulties too high...didn't want Randall opening some old wounds and what not. When he did tire himself out, he did say, mostly to himself, "that was fun". I have to say, I felt a little achieved that he did have fun, and was quite pleased with myself when he was helped to his room by a couple Gears..........after I reminded him they weren't Heartless...
Anyway...one of these days I will try Dream Drop Distance, the series has been fun to play, and I look forward to what they'll do!
OH! Also...if your wondering...with Randall and all...when Kingdom Hearts will start putting Pixar stuff in. Thinking it will be in KH3? Well I......doubt it. BUT! There is hope! Remember...the third one ends this "Xehanort Saga"...there ARE other ones after it. So cross your fingers folks! I hope to have another weird "I'm playing myself" moment with Randall in Kingdom Hearts 4!
Ok, a LOT to say about this one, so take a deep breath, finish those chips and open your peepers to start a readin'!
